Chapter 1
~THALIA ~
My vision blurred as I opened my eyes. I didn't bother to look around because the antiseptic smell and the beeping of the machines made it clear I was in the hospital.
This noon, I was hit by a car. An expensive one.
The first thought on my mind when I woke up wasn't my injuries or the throbbing in my head. It was the car owner. I needed to ask the nurses who had attended to me. Whoever it was couldn't simply vanish after an accident like this.
I heaved myself up, grimacing, and was ready to swing my legs off the bed when I saw a male wolf sitting next to me.
He wore a polished suit that screamed old money. His scent was different from an ordinary wolf like me. His domineering aura filled the room like an Alpha. I bet he was definitely one.
I also recalled his car before I was unconscious. It was'Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail'. Anyone who can afford a car like that must be crazily rich.
"You're finally awake," he said, a smirk tugging at his lips. "You've passed out for two hours."
I shot him a brief, disgusted glare.
"You hit me. You need to pay me compensation!" I bellowed in fury.
"How much compensation do you want?" He inquired in a calm voice.
"500,000 dollars," I replied swiftly.
He didn't reply immediately. Clearly, he found me ridiculous.
Well, the truth of the incident was that I was the one who ran into his car when I was in a hurry. But before I lost consciousness, I thought of a plan when I saw how luxurious the car was.
I was only trying to gamble with my luck. I tried my fucking effort not to show how nervous I was. I didn't have any serious injuries apart from the bump on my forehead and my knees skin that peeled.
Although what I tried to do was shameful despite knowing the truth of the incident, I was only desperate. The only family I had left, Aunty Jasmine, was having lung cancer. We've spent all we had at the hospital, and yet it didn't get us anywhere.
Right there when I was hit by that luxurious car, I knew I must get the money to save her.
"This small injury of yours is worth 500,000? Isn't that an indirect robbery ?" He spoke in a deep voice.
I bit my lip."You don't look like someone who cares about a mere 500,000 dollars. Why not pay me to avoid trouble?"
"Pay to avoid trouble? So, if I don't pay, what do you plan to do to me? Huh?"
He kept looking at me with a reaction I couldn't decipher.
"Are all female wolves these days so shamelessly greedy?"
At that point, I saw that he wasn't ready to fall into my scheme, so I lost the little courage that I had. I decided to beg for the money with honesty. I became extremely anxious.
"Please, can you consider the money as a debt I owe you. I will be eighteen by tomorrow, and I will be able to work in a higher-paying job. I'll pay you back as fast as I can."
He laughed loudly as if it were the most insincere promise he had ever heard in all his years, and maybe it probably sounded quite ridiculous.
"Do you perhaps know who I am?"
"No, I don't."
"Then why do you think I will lend that huge amount to a stranger?"
My breath hitched. I clenched my hands to steady my nerves as if I were fighting a battle I must win. "Because you're very rich and rich wolves like being praised as a philanthropist."
He burst into another loud mocking laughter. "Oh, that's not me. I might be rich but I don't give my money to just anyone."
Suddenly, his aura changed, and it carried a hint of contempt.
"Well, my time here is up. Here's your compensation," he uttered as he dropped a bundle of money on the table.
"How much is that?"
"Ten thousand dollars and it's damn enough for you to recover for a month." He remarked.
Indeed, ten thousand dollars was a lot as compensation for my minor injury, but it was just a drop in the ocean compared to Aunty Jasmine's medical expenses.
"Normally, I wouldn't stick around for this long only to have you wake up and try to swindle me. But today, I just happened to have a lot of free time," he muttered.
After he finished speaking, he turned to leave. Just as he was about to reach the door, I dashed behind him and grabbed his clothes tightly.
"Please help me. I really will pay you back in the future. I can write you an official agreement." I pleaded desperately with tears dropping from my eyes.

For three years, I hid my identity as a billionaire heiress to build a life with the man I loved. I gave up everything to support Ben's career, believing we were creating a future together from the ground up.
The day before our engagement, I overheard him with his boss, Haylie. He called me a "stepping stone," a poor, simple girl he was using to climb the corporate ladder and get closer to her.
He laughed about our "humble" life and mocked the silver ring on my finger, calling it a necessary prop. He was sleeping with her, taking credit for the multi-million dollar deal I secretly engineered, and saw my love as a naive distraction.
The man I sacrificed my entire world for saw me as less than nothing. My love didn't just die; it turned into ice-cold rage.
So I walked out of his life and straight into the arms of my family's biggest rival.
He offered me a deal I couldn't refuse.
"Marry me," Jaxson Banks said with a smirk. "And together, we'll burn their world to the ground."

Azura Briggs was just a broke college student working freezing valet shifts to pay her adoptive mother's crushing medical debt.
Her desperate life shattered the night a bulletproof Maybach violently cornered her in an alley, and a ruthless billionaire kidnapped her by mistake.
After a harrowing escape, Azura was forced to take a humiliating "plus-one" gig at a high-end gala just to survive. But her date turned out to be the billionaire's arrogant nephew, who promptly abandoned her to the wolves. Cornered by a sleazy executive and his psychotic wife, Azura was publicly slapped, her dress torn, and left bleeding on the floor while hundreds of elites watched in disgust.
Just as she prepared to fight to the death, the crowd violently parted. Hunter Mcintosh, the terrifying man who had kidnapped her days ago, dropped to his knees in the broken glass and wrapped his bespoke jacket around her trembling shoulders.
Azura was completely paralyzed. Why was the monster who threatened her life now destroying billionaires just to protect her?
But the illusion of safety didn't last. Trapped in his Maybach hours later, Hunter threw a draconian employment contract at her feet.
"Sign it, and her care is covered. Forever."
He knew exactly how to break her. He was offering to pay off her mother's debt, but only if she signed her life away to become his personal assistant. With no other way out, Azura picked up the heavy pen.

For three years, I played the perfect, submissive housewife to billionaire Julian Harrison.
But right after an intimate night together, he coldly threw a divorce agreement onto the bed.
"Scarlett landed an hour ago. I need my single status restored to welcome her back."
That same night, I ended up in the emergency room and discovered I was pregnant with twins.
When Julian found out, he didn't show a shred of joy. Instead, he stormed into my hospital room, threw a blank check directly at my face, and ordered me to get rid of them.
He accused me of using the babies as a sick game to trap his assets.
Then, his ruthless lawyer kicked me out of our penthouse, confiscating the jewelry he gifted me and tossing my worn-out notebook onto the floor like garbage.
Standing in the freezing rain, my heart completely died.
I had swallowed my pride, managed his life, and cooked his meals to his exact standards for three years, only to be thrown away the second his first love returned.
But he didn't know that the notebook his lawyer discarded contained the secret formulas of Aura Beauty, a billion-dollar empire I built in the shadows.
I tore his check into pieces, blocked his number, and left in a Maybach sent by my associate.
Logging into my global CEO database, I looked at his company's fragile stock chart with a predatory smile.
The docile Mrs. Harrison died in the rain. It was time to crush his empire.

My wedding to Ethan Reed was just weeks away.
After seven years, I was certain of our perfect future.
Then, Ethan claimed "selective amnesia" from a head injury, forgetting only me.
I tried to make him remember, until I overheard his video call.
"Total genius move," he boasted to friends.
His amnesia was a fake "hall pass" to pursue influencer Chloe Vance before our wedding.
Heartbroken, I feigned belief.
I endured his open flirting with Chloe and their taunting selfies.
He mocked my distress, prioritizing Chloe's fake emergency.
After an accident he caused, he abandoned me, injured, choosing to send Chloe to the hospital first.
He even tried to cut me off financially.
How could my fiancé be this cruel, calculating monster?
His betrayal poisoned every memory.
I felt like a fool for trusting such boundless cruelty.
His audacity left me reeling.
But I wouldn’t be his victim.
Instead of breaking, a cold plan formed.
I would shed my identity, become Olivia Carter.
I would disappear, leaving him, my past, and his engagement ring behind forever, claiming my freedom.

My wedding was tomorrow. I was a crisis counselor who had finally found peace with my loving fiancé, Dexter, and my best friend, Barbara.
A late-night call about a forced marriage led me to a hotel penthouse, where I found them naked in bed together.
It was all a cruel, three-year "savior game." They were bored heirs, and I was their project. They destroyed my career, caused me to lose our baby, and put my mother in the hospital.
They forced me to be a bridesmaid at their wedding-the one that should have been mine.
In front of hundreds of guests, they exposed my traumatic past and then tried to marry me off to a drunken stranger as a joke.
As I stood there, broken, a text from Barbara arrived.
"Your mother saw the livestream. She had a heart attack. She's not going to make it."
With nothing left, I ran to the 20th-floor window and jumped. They thought they had erased me. But my death was just the beginning.
