Chapter 1

: 10 Jin of Oysters

In the middle of the night, I ordered ten pounds of raw oysters for my fiancé, but I forgot to change the default address and had them sent to my ex-boyfriend's place instead.

My ex-boyfriend called me. "Zia Rhodes, what is this supposed to mean?"

I explained timidly, "I forgot to change the address."

My ex-boyfriend sneered. "What, does that rich old man of yours need this?"

1

Three years after I broke up with Aiden Asher, my family went bankrupt.

The reason I gave for the breakup was that I liked "brilliantly bald" old men—rich, quiet, and most importantly, quick to die.

Three months ago, I got engaged to a man I'd never met.

My fiancé's name is Chase Linden. His father's group acquired my father's law firm.

The Linden Family was after the law firm's prestigious name.

I was after the Linden Family's immense wealth.

Out of necessity, I had to dutifully play the part of the Linden Family's future daughter-in-law.

I also had to clean up the messes Chase Linden made while fooling around.

Celine Jenner was the third woman to confront me this month.

In my office, she walked right up, slapped me across the face, and then threw her phone at me.

"You're nothing but a shameless gold digger. If it weren't for appearances, do you think the Linden Family would even look twice at you?"

On the screen was the message Chase Linden had sent her before he ghosted her.

"Babe, my fiancée went through my phone. We should probably just end things."

'Went through his phone?'

I had never even met Chase Linden in person.

I was just Chase Linden's fiancée of convenience; he used me as a shield to get rid of his flings.

She flung more than a dozen hundred-dollar bills in my face, saying with disgust,

"Is that enough? Aren't you just after the Linden Family's money?"

Right now, I was in no position to fight back against them.

Opening WeChat, I saw that Chase Linden had made a new post.

He was swimming shirtless in a pool, and beside him was the new "goddess" he was chasing.

The location was tagged: Seraphine Hotel, Presidential Suite 6023.

My cheek was still throbbing with fiery pain.

So, using Celine Jenner's name, I ordered ten pounds of raw oysters with a side of garlic and had them sent over.

I also added a plate of Virility Scramble.

Tonight, he was definitely not getting any sleep.
