Refusing to Recycle a Scumbag Chapter 1

: Breakup

My boyfriend of many years threw my cat out of the house for his precious "sister."

He said, "Your cat may only lose its life, but Claire's hand got hurt."

Later, he knelt before me with a diamond ring, begging me to come back to him.

I pointed to my chest and scoffed.

"This isn't a junkyard. I can't take in a piece of trash your size."

When I got home from work, I opened the front door, but Treasure wasn't there to greet me like he usually was.

I called his name several times and even opened a can of his favorite dried fish, but he still didn't show up.

Just as I was starting to worry, Aiden Gordon pulled the door open and walked in.

"I can't find Treasure, Aiden. Have you seen him?" I rushed over to him, trying to keep the panic from my voice.

The words had barely left my mouth when I saw who was behind him: Claire Chandler, his childhood sweetheart.

Claire Chandler's right hand was wrapped up like a mummy, and she was whimpering softly in pain.

Aiden turned his head to look at her, his eyes filled with heartache, as if he wished he could be the one who was hurt.

"It hurt Claire, so I threw it out," Aiden said, carefully helping Claire sit down on the sofa.

He said it so casually, as if he had just thrown out a piece of garbage.

My mind went blank. My temples started throbbing with rage.

I strode up to Aiden, grabbed his collar, and roared, "Where did you throw him? Where did you throw Treasure?!"

My sheer rage startled them both.

Claire looked up from the sofa, her eyes welling with tears. Her voice trembled as she choked out, "Please, don't be angry. It's all my fault. I just wanted to pet Treasure, and that's when he scratched me."

A fresh wave of fury surged up from the depths of my heart when I saw how little either of them cared.

I strode to the front door, clenching the doorknob tightly and fighting to keep my voice from shaking.

"Aiden Gordon, you take your precious sister and get the hell out of my house. Right. Now."

Aiden froze, and Claire looked dumbfounded.

"Get out," I roared.

Aiden stared at me in disbelief, his brows knitting together. "Celia Shaw, do you even know what you're saying?"

I let out a cold laugh. "Aiden Gordon, we're through."

A triumphant smirk flashed across Claire's face. She stood up, walked over to me, and continued to add fuel to the fire. "Please, calm down. I can leave, but you mustn't break up with Brother Aiden..."

"Shut up and get out," I snarled, pointing to the door.

Aiden strode over and took Claire's hand. He shot me a furious glare. "Celia Shaw, you want to break up? Fine. We're done."

With that, he furiously stormed out, pulling Claire along by the hand.

The moment that wretched couple was gone, I went to look for my cat.

I searched all over the building first, but there was no sign of Treasure. Panicking, I then went to check the landscaped areas around the complex.

I kept calling Treasure's name, my voice choked with panic, on the verge of tears.

Beyond Divorce: He Is Not The Same Novel Cover

I woke up in a bedroom that screamed old money, but the body I occupied felt sluggish and fragile. I was now Chris Olson, a man known as a pathetic failure who spent his marriage groveling at his wife's feet for a single look of approval. Elizabeth didn't even wait for me to clear my head before she threw the divorce papers on the nightstand. She stood there in her silk robe, eyes cold as ice, demanding I sign them before breakfast so she could finally go public with her "White Moonlight," Greg. "You're walking away with nothing," she snapped, her voice full of the disgust she'd harbored for years. She reminded me that my family had disowned me and that I'd be on the streets within a week without her charity. As I sat up, a metallic, garlic-like scent on my breath confirmed a terrifying truth: the Olson family hadn't just disowned me; they had been micro-dosing me with arsenic for years. They wanted me weak and mentally unstable so they could split the inheritance without a fight. The original Chris would have cried and begged for her to stay, but I just looked at her like she was a target. I realized then that my "loving" family and my "faithful" wife had been watching me die in slow motion, and neither of them had lifted a finger to stop it. I signed the papers without reading a single line and walked out with nothing but a duffel bag and a rusted sedan. I didn't need her alimony; I had already called her greatest rival, Adelia Cherry, to discuss a merger that would rock the city. "I'm not here to save this marriage," I told Elizabeth as I moved into the mansion right next door to hers. "I'm here to bury it, along with everyone who thought they could poison me and get away with it."
