Chapter 8

Christopher kept banging his fist hard against Roxanne's door to the point that it attracted the attention of neighboring security.

"Young man, what's the problem here?" The security man had asked after getting him to stop creating a ruckus, but Christopher wasn't about to hear that.

He knew something was going on. He could feel it, after all Roxanne had called him and then suddenly hung up. He couldn't pin point the exact reason for her action but he could tell that there were several meanings to it and the only way for him to discover the answers was for him to get into her apartment, but even that wasn't going so well for him right now.

"I'm sorry for creating a scene, but the thing is, my fiance is currently in her apartment but she's not responding. I need to get to her some way." Christopher vaguely explained and was about to get back to banging when the security gaurd stopped him once more.

"Please be calm, Sir, I'm sure your fiance is fine if possible, I'd help you contact her, but please stop causing a ruckus."

It was only after the security man's words that Christopher looked around and saw several residence staring at him while whispering underneath their breaths.

They must think he has a fight with his fiance. Christopher thought and gritted his teeth in anger. Why was Roxanne constantly making a fool out of him these days.

Despite the angry thoughts in his head, Christopher maintained his posture and nodded towards the security man's suggestion. However, just as the security man rised his hand, about to knock in a more subtle manner, the sound of the door unlocking reaches their ears and It flew open.

Dressed in a bath robe and wet hair, Roxanne stared between the security man and Christopher, feigning confusion.

"Babe?" She asked.

Christopher was confused for a minute. He was sure that Roxanne had called him and was now playing some sort of trick to throw him off her trails. But he was not going to allow that. This time around, he was determined to find out her schemes.

Putting on a mask of worry, he rushed forward and pulled Roxanne into his embrace. The female recoiled on the inside but remained in his arms for the sake of her acting.

"Babe, I was so worried about you. Why aren't you picking up my calls? You called but didn't say anything and got me worried."

"It seems like I had accidentally called you when stepping into the shower. I hung up because it was a mistaken dial. I didn't know it would worry you this much. Sorry." Roxanne said and turned to face the security man that was watching them and apologized. "I'm sorry for disturbing the neighborhood so late at night, thank you for your understanding."

"Eh? Oh, it's no problem, just make sure to settle whatever it is going on in your relationship." The security man nonchalantly said. Just like everyone else watching, he took also believed there was something going on between the two lovers.

If only they knew how spot on their assumptions were.

Bidding them farewell, the security man returned to his post and soon the prying neighbors followed suit, shutting their blinds and windows alike.

Christopher, before Roxanne could say anything, pulled her into the house and shut the doors, locking it in the process.

"You had me so worried." He said and pulled her into another embrace, using this time to observe the house- as the lights were now on- for anything out of the ordinary.

When he spotted none, he pulled away from the hug and stared down at Roxanne's face. That angelic face of hers that would have made him never doubt her loyalty towards their relationship.

"I must have startled you with my ill mannered way of knocking, right?"

As much as Roxanne wanted to say 'yes,' she swallowed her truthfully words down, forced a smile on her lips and shook her head.

"Not at all, I understand you were simply worried about me. I should be the one apologizing for making you worry in the first place."

"Oh, my Roxy has such a kind heart." Christopher said and suddenly kisses her on the cheek. He observed her reaction and expected her to look disgusted or at least displeased, but she showed none of those reactions so far even when she felt like vomiting on the inside.

"I'm fine now, Chris, so you can return to your meeting. Weren't you on your way there?"

"Y-yes." Christopher quickly answered. He still believes that she wasn't aware that he had been watching her over the past few days.

If only he knew that Lance had exposed his secret.

"But that can always wait." Christopher added as he lead Roxanne back to the chair by her shoulder.

"But didn't you say it was extremely important?" She challenged.

Christopher nervously chuckled as he forced her to seat on the chair. "Nothing is as important as you are, babe." He said with a silver tongue.

Roxanne stared at him blankly for a few seconds. Nothing was as important as her? Yeah right.

"Thank you." She said and forced a smile.

Christopher smiled back, although he now had another plan in mind. Since he now knew she had been having an affair and just like the other day when Grace had pointed out the hickey on her neck, he suspected there was going to be another one there and as soon as he finds it, he was planning to take Roxanne up on it.

That was cleverly going to give him the upper hand.

"It's okay. Now, let me dry your hair for you." He said and caressed her wet hair.

Roxanne bit back her words of rejection and forced another smile, watching as Christopher grabbed the towel she had specifically placed on the head of her couch went rushing to answer the door.

Gently, Christopher soothed Roxanne's hair with the towel, trying his best to dry out water from her still damp hair like he usually did with Amber, all the while also trying to see if he could spot any hickeys on any part of her neck.

After a while, Roxanne had noticed that he had been drying her hair for too long and asked. "You done?"

"Huh? Oh, yes." Christopher said and stepped away, feeling somewhat down that he couldn't find any sign of a hickey on her neck and now had nothing to challenge her with.

"Thanks for drying my hair, I was playing to go to bed with it still damp." Roxanne said with a forced chuckle as she turned around and collected the towel from Christopher.

"Now that everything's been settled, I suggest you head back to the emergency meeting."

"What?"

"The meeting, shouldn't you get back to it?"

"Uh..." Christopher muttered underneath his breath as his eyes roamed Roxanne's apartment once more. He still had the gur feeling that he was missing out on something. "My colleagues... they can handle it on their own, so..." He said and suddenly hugged Roxanne from the back. "How about I stay over this night?"

"What?" It was Roxanne's turn to be caught off guard.

What about Amber? She wanted to scream so badly and have him thrown out.

Him staying over for the night was a bad idea! Lance was still potentially... No definitely somewhere in her apartment, if the two were to run into each other it would be game over for her!

But then again if she were fo refuse once more, it would obviously seem suspicious to him and seeing as Lance had already exposed the fact that she was having an affair to Christopher, he would only suspect her all the more.

Right now she was backed against a corner with only one answer to choose and she needed to choose wisely before she shot herself in the foot.

A few seconds had passed before she finally made her decision. It was a risky one, but definitely the best.

"Sure." She agreed with a quiet sigh. "I'll go grab some of your night dress so how about you go shower."

Christopher's lips pulled up into a smile and soon he was racing in the direction of the bathroom.

Roxanne watches him with a gloom gaze, aware of whatever tricks he was planning. She was no longer his stupid naive fiance.

With that, she walked towards her wardrobe to get Christopher his night dress as promised, however, as she opened her wardrobe, she was quite surprised to see Lance comfortably seating in there.

Sure she has expected him to be somewhere, but in her wardrobe... Wasn't that just being plain out risky?

What if Christopher has been the one to open her wardrobe?

The thought sent her heart skipping a beat while Lance care freely waved his hand at her and she glared back at him.

"Christopher is in the shower, leave now." She told him through gritted teeth. She was still angry at what he had done.

But obviously, just like his stone head brother, Lance wasn't about to leave under her words.

While Roxanne was fuming and picking out a few of Christopher's night dress, he abruptly stretched his hand out and slipped it through the slit in Roxanne's night robe.

She gasped the moment Lance's hand made contact with her bare skin. She harshly swatted his hand away and glared at him.

"Roxy, babe, could you please pass me the towel, I think I forgot it." Christopher's voice came from the bathroom.

Roxanne glanced in the direction and cringed in disgust before grabbing the remaining of the clothes.

"Leave." She told Lance one last time before closing the wardrobe and heading in the direction of the bathroom with Christopher's night clothes and a new towel.

"Thanks for the towel babe." Christopher said after he had stepped out of the shower some time later.

Roxanne nodded her head and merely moved away, settling on the couch as she turned on the television. Christopher settled beside her seconds later and wriggled his arms around her shoulder.

"Which movie, babe?" He asked.

"Isn't okay not to be okay." Roxanne informed as she uninterested watched on. As much as she enjoyed watching one of her most favorite movie, with Christopher here, everything had been spoilt.

Christopher noticed how uninterested she looked in the movie. From time to time he would glanced her way and notice how she seemed distant even though this was one of her favorite movies.

During one of his several stolen glances in her direction, Christopher's eyes gravitated down to the exposed corner of her neck that had been peeling through her robe. He gulp and tried to turn away after seeing how moist and fair her neck looked, but found it impossible.

After all, Roxanne was tempting in her own ways even when she didn't do anything.

Unbeknownst to her, as she was watching the movie, trying to divert her attention from the fact that Lance was still in her wardrobe, when she felt Christopher's lips on her neck.

She flinched and jumped back, placing her palm over the place he had left an open mouth kiss.

"What are you doing?" She asked, trying her very best to conceal the disgust her body was feeling.

"You looked bored at the movie, so I thought we could spice thinks up." Christopher smiled innocently and adjusted on the chair, shifting closer to where Roxanne now was.

She shifted back and cracked a chuckle. "I'm very much interested in the movie."

"But I'm not. Come on babe." Christopher said as he slidered closer and soon Roxanne had her back pressed against the chairs.

Ah, why does she always have to find herself in these types of situations. Roxanne thought as she placed her hand on Christopher's chest, trying to stop his incoming kisses, but he didn't seem to understand her act of rejection and continued to push forward, smuddering his lips across her neck and gravitating towards her lips.

"Chris... Chris that's enough. Let's stop." Roxanne tried to protest, pushing him by his shoulder but he didn't seem to bulge.

Just when she thought she'd have to hit him in his baby maker, her door bell began to ring.

Roxanne was more than glad when Christopher stopped in his tracks and glanced at the door.

"Ah, damn." He muttered underneath his breath but Roxanne heard him and sighed out in relief as he got off her and proceeded towards the door.

She had been saved from an awful lot amount of scrubbing and double bathing for the day. If possible, she would love to thank the angle sent human who had intervened at her moment of disgust.

Her feeling of appreciation, however, dwindled the moment Christopher opened the door and Amber stood there.

Her Savior was none other than the mistress.
